Key Topics

Public Hospital Funding

We are seeing unprecedented levels of ambulance ramping, access block to beds in emergency departments and hospital wards, as well as lengthy delays to elective surgeries. These pressures are causing immense distress and poor health outcomes for patients and incredible pressure for hospital doctors to provide appropriate care for their patients. Chronic underfunding of our public hospitals is putting us all at risk and the next Federal Government must increase funding. AMA Queensland’s Ramping Roundtable has released a five-point action plan – why has no level of government acted on it? Nationally the AMA has also launched the Clear the hospital logjam campaign to address the current public hospital crisis.

Saving General Practice

Since its introduction in the 1980s, Medicare has become the bedrock of our health system with GPs at the heart of primary care. However, Medicare has failed to keep pace with the costs of delivering high quality care. We need federal funding and leadership to help all levels of government to work together to find solutions that will save general practice and ensure communities get the healthcare they need, expect and deserve.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear from doctors and patients at the centre of the healthcare issues facing our state and understand what our political representatives will do to fix it.
