This conference has grown in reputation as a must-attend event and encourages attendees to engage and be inspired.

Unsure how to go from Junior Doctor to specialist? Come and hear from the people who have taken the pathway to training with 'Speed Dating the Specialties'. Registrars with experience in applying and progressing to their chosen field will share their journeys and tips in brief 5-10 minute sessions. When time is up, swap onto the next specialty and have all your questions answered!

  • 11.30am - 12pm: Brunch Break with catering

Dr Rachele Quested - Opening key note speaker

Topic: Surviving and thriving in medicine, it’s possible to be more than “just a doctor”
Dr Quested is a radiology registrar working at the Princess Alexandra Hospital for 2022. She has previously worked in orthopaedics, and emergency medicine at the PHO/Registrar level. I She's strongly motivated to improve medical training for future generations of doctors.

Dr Marco Giuseppin - Closing key note speaker

Topic: The "Steven Bradbury" Medical Career - Where curiosity (and a series of accidents) can take you
Marco is a Rural Generalist and current Chair of the Federal AMA Council of Rural Doctors with a passion for Rural Health, Medical Management and Critical Care. Originally trained at the University of Queensland, Marco’s career has taken him throughout Rural and Regional Queensland in roles encompassing General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Retrieval Medicine and Anaesthesia. As a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and an advocate for primary health care on the national stage, Marco is now in a "portfolio career" encompassing primary care and acute hospital management, strategy and corporate governance

The venue will be at the beautiful, new Cairns Institute only 15 minutes from the CBD. If you’re a local, there is plenty of parking onsite and if you’re staying in Cairns, we have a complimentary chartered bus to get you to the venue.
