Your Voice in Health
The medical profession in the 21st Century is facing challenges unlike any experienced by the profession before. If you are a Medical Practitioner in the Northern erritory, you can’t afford not to be a member of the Australian Medical Association Northern Territory (AMA NT)
As this country’s foremost medico/political lobby, the AMA is your organisation, guided and directed by your profession. When you join the AMA NT you ensure the profession has a strong voice. Don’t be left on your own to deal with the challenges.
Membership
Membership of the AMA NT is open to any medical practitioner holding current registration to practise with AHPRA and medical students eligible to seek honorary Associate Student Membership.
Fees are fully tax deductible, and membership entitles members not only to effective medico/political representation but also to a range of professional benefits and member services.
The AMA NT Council meets formally on the second Tuesday of the month. If you have any issues you wish to raise, please do not hesitate to contact the Secretariat.
Changes to our structure
At a Special General Meeting on 7 October 2025, members of AMA NT voted to transition from an incorporated association to a branch of AMA Limited. This important decision reflects our commitment to ensuring the long-term sustainability of AMA NT and to maintaining a strong voice for medical professionals across the territory.
By becoming a branch of the federal AMA, AMA NT will be better positioned to strengthen support for our members and enhance our operational capacity. This new structure allows us to share resources more effectively and access the expertise of skilled staff within the federal AMA, ensuring we can continue to deliver high-quality advocacy and services for our local members.
New bylaws have been developed that ensure we maintain local representation and continue to have representation on the federal AMA Board.
