Don’t Turn Away From Child Sexual Abuse
The Queensland government has launched a new campaign to raise awareness of the state’s child abuse mandatory reporting laws.

Since July 2021, all adults are required to report any suspicion of sexual offending against a child to police.
Failure to do so is an offence – unless there is a reasonable reason not to.
The “Don’t Turn Away” campaign aims to educate Queenslanders on their responsibilities, and the state government has asked for our support in promoting this message.
Doctors and medical practitioners are aware of the legislation – but your patients may not be.
The government’s public awareness toolkit includes informative brochures and posters we encourage you to display in your practice.
We all have a responsibility to protect the lives of young people. Not only is it the right thing to do, it’s the law.
