Australia Day Honours for Queensland health workers

Several Queensland healthcare workers have been recognised in this years’ Australia Day Honours awards for their outstanding service to medicine, community health and medical research.

This year’s group of honourees reflect the diverse talents present within our medical industry, with recipients recognised for a variety of contributions.

“Our medical professionals work tirelessly to protect and ensure the health of all Queensland communities, and it’s great to see them receive the accolades they deserve,” AMA Queensland President Dr Nick Yim said.

“Each individual doctor, nurse, specialist and health worker plays a significant role in our healthcare system, and we would not receive the high standard of care we are privileged to in Queensland without them.

“It is fantastic to see their efforts recognised, particularly during a time when our workforce is struggling to keep up with the ever-increasing demand and cost of health services.

“We applaud all Queensland doctors for their work despite the increasing challenges they are facing.

“Queensland has one of the best trained medical workforces in the world and continues to achieve outstanding health outcomes for the community.

“It is an exceptional honour to work and advocate on behalf of such dedicated health professionals.

“We thank all Queensland doctors, and particularly our members, who continue to strive for better community health and standards for our workforce.”
