Retention of alcohol harm reduction laws

AMA Queensland has written to both major parties ahead of the Queensland Election urging them to retain existing alcohol harm reduction laws regardless of who wins office this month.

Minister for Housing and Public Works and Minister for Youth Sam O'Connor has written to AMA Queensland in response to our letter from January 2025. 

The letter refers to the recent appointment of Mr John Collins AM as inaugural Night-Life Economy Commissioner, who is required to work with night-life businesses to create a safe and vibrant night-life in Queensland.

Any weakening of these world-leading reforms threatens community safety and would increase the burden on our already-overburdened health system.
