Response to Draft National Medical Workforce Strategy

The AMA submission to the Draft National Medical Workforce Strategy identified several areas for further development including adequately resourcing structured rural-metropolitan partnerships and training networks to support specialist training, accrediting all prevocational training places, reviewing funding levers to address renumeration of GP trainees and other generalist careers, and the development of a ‘single’ employer model for GPs in Training.

The AMACDT coordinated input from all AMA Councils and Committees to inform the AMAs submission to the Draft National Medical Workforce Strategy at the end of January 2021. The AMAs submission was broadly supportive of the five priority areas and most actions outlined in the draft strategy.
