Northern GP brings practical regional voice to AMA Tasmania leadership
Northern Tasmanian GP Dr Jerome Muir Wilson has been appointed Vice President of AMA Tasmania.
A practising GP based in the north of the state, Dr Muir Wilson brings experience across general practice, urgent care, medical education, clinical governance, board governance and health service development.
He will work alongside AMA Tasmania President Dr Meg Creely to help represent and advocate for doctors across Tasmania.
President Dr Meg Creely said Dr Muir Wilson's appointment further strengthened the organisation's leadership at an important time for the profession.
"Jerome understands the realities of modern medical practice because he works in it every day.
"He brings experience, good judgement and a collaborative approach. Just as importantly, he understands the challenges facing doctors and patients, particularly in regional Tasmania.
"He will be a valuable addition to our leadership team as we continue advocating for doctors and a stronger health system."
Dr Muir Wilson said he was honoured to take on the role.
"AMA Tasmania has a strong and respected voice because it is grounded in the experiences of practising doctors.
"I'm proud to support that work alongside Dr Meg Creely, and our members, helping ensure our advocacy remains practical, constructive and focused on improving health care for Tasmanians.
"Doctors see every day where the system works well and where it can do better. Bringing those experiences into the conversation is one of the most important roles AMA Tasmania plays." >>> ENDS
