The AMA (ACT)'s Tony Chase (Manager of Workplace Relations and General Practice) and Ian Bretell (Lawyer at Bradley Allen Love Lawyers) will be speaking at this event and addressing concerns of particular interest to medical practices in the ACT.

Ian joined the Bradley Allen Love employment law team in June 2015, with a background of experience in commercial law. His work predominantly focuses on protecting the rights of employees by assisting them with matters involving underpayment, unfair dismissal, adverse action, and discrimination. He also specialises in matters relating specifically to government processes, including public service misconduct proceedings, and security clearance and freedom of information reviews. Ian holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney. Ian joined the firm as a solicitor in 2014.

Ian will be looking at:

  • How to terminate a contract of employment;
  • Unfair dismissal
  • General Protections; and
  • Discrimination in the context of termination

Tony Chase joined AMA (ACT) in 2016 and is an experienced workplace relations practitioner and has worked across both the private and public sectors. He has appeared in most Australian industrial tribunals representing small and medium businesses, and has also worked as a workplace mediator and investigator for the Commonwealth Government.

Tony will be looking at: 

  • Setting performance objectives;
  • The importance of performance reviews and how to conduct them; and
  • Performance Management and associated risks.

Who should attend: Practice principals, practice managers and other practice staff.
