IMG Essentials Event
This week, AMA SA hosted an information evening for International Medical Graduates at Lyell McEwen Hospital. The event focused on the practical financial and professional nuances that IMGs encounter when entering the Australian medical system including income tax, medical indemnity insurance and personal health insurance. These are areas where clarity matters early and where the right guidance makes a real difference.
We were joined by three expert partners, Hood Sweeney, MDA National and Doctors' Health Fund. They each spoke with genuine depth and relevance to the IMG experience. The evening was hosted by Dr Rajaran Ramadoss, Head of the LMH ICU Department and AMA SA Councillor.
A sincere thank you to the Medical Education Unit at LMH for their collaboration in bringing this event together . We recognise that unpredictable rosters make attendance at after-hours events genuinely difficult. The turnout speaks to the appetite within the IMG community for this kind of support — and to the LMH community's commitment to their colleagues. We look forward to continuing this work.
