AMA SA welcomes new CEO

The Australian Medical Association in South Australia has appointed Simon Jones as its new CEO.

Mr Jones is an accomplished senior commercial executive with extensive experience in management and stakeholder engagement across the retail, telecommunications and IT sectors. He was the South Australian State Manager for Optus from 2019 to 2024 and has been General Manager of Solutions Plus Partnership since then.

Mr Jones also undertook preclinical studies prior to his successful career in the corporate world. AMA SA President Associate Professor Peter Subramaniam has welcomed Mr Jones’s appointment.

‘Simon’s medical studies give him a valuable perspective on the health advocacy of the AMA SA,’ A/Prof Subramaniam said.

‘His strong corporate management credentials will strengthen the organisation’s mission to serve the needs of our doctor members.

'Id also like to sincerely thank Paul Anderson, who has served as interim CEO since early September. He's made a significant impact in a short time.'

A/Prof Subramaniam has assured members that all services, advocacy work, events and corporate partnership initiatives will continue seamlessly.

'With the 2026 election approaching, one of our main priorities is to ensure our voice is heard in public debate and by political leaders across the spectrum,' A/Prof Subramaniam said.

'I am confident that Simon’s contribution as CEO will strengthen our ability to shape the future of healthcare in this state.'
