Cutting-edge care
AMA SA CEO Nicole Sykes reflects on her recent visit to Eastwood Private Hospital, highlighting its patient-centred design and cutting-edge technology.

I had the pleasure of visiting Adelaide’s newest hospital, Eastwood, alongside our Vice President Dr Louis Papillon. We were given a private tour by one of its developers, orthopaedic surgeon Dr James McLean.
Eastwood is a state-of-the-art facility with a design that places patient comfort at its core. It seamlessly blends the safety and clinical standards of a modern hospital with the ambience of a high-end hotel—something I believe sets a new benchmark for healthcare environments in South Australia.
As noted on the hospital’s website, Eastwood Private Hospital offers 51 inpatient beds and six large operating theatres, allowing it to accommodate a significant volume of patients while maintaining a warm, restorative atmosphere. While it predominantly specialises in orthopaedics, it also provides services in ophthalmology and plastics, and includes consulting rooms, radiology, and pathology onsite.

Throughout the tour, the integration of advanced technology and meticulous attention to detail was evident. With its impressive amenities and thoughtful layout, patients in South Australia can expect to be cared for exceptionally well at Eastwood.
