COVID-19 Vaccine EOI Results

The Department of Health has confirmed it has now written to thousands of general practices advising them if they have made the list of practices eligible for the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The vast majority of those who submitted an Expression of Interest have been found to be eligible. Those that have initially been assessed as ineligible should contact their Primary Health Network if they believe this decision has been made in error or their circumstances have changed since they lodged their EOI.

The AMA fought very hard to ensure general practice was included in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout. While the Government’s original plan spoke about the involvement of around 1,000 general practices, the AMA has secured a commitment to include all eligible practices.

Due to limited vaccine supply initially, not all eligible practices will be able to start at the same time.

Through discussions with the Minister for Health, the AMA has been assured the Government will move very quickly to expand the number of general practices that can provide COVID-19 vaccinations as supply improves. Based on information the AMA has been given, it is expected this will be over a matter of weeks rather than months.

The Department of Health is publishing more information on an almost daily basis regarding the vaccine roll out as well clinical advice from ATAGI. This material is available here.
