AMA Submission to the Review of General Practice Accreditation Arrangements

The AMA has made a submission to the Review of General Practice Accreditation Arrangements.

The Review commissioned by the Department of Health is being conducted by MP Consulting.

The submission reiterates the AMA's long-standing support for a profession led model of accreditation and highlights the strengths of the current arrangements. However, the submission also highlights several areas for reform to reduce compliance costs, provide improved support for practices and to encourage greater participation.

The AMA strongly supports a profession-led voluntary general practice accreditation system that encourages and supports practices to not only meet standards set by the profession, but also to continuously pursue improvement.
