AMA urges support for India

The AMA wrote to the Prime Minister this week, calling on the Government to send medical supplies and equipment to India as it grapples with a growing humanitarian crisis.

The health system in India is being overwhelmed by the pandemic and there are widespread shortages of critical medical supplies and equipment including pharmaceuticals, personal protective equipment (PPE), ventilators and oxygen.

Several countries have now signalled that they will come to the aid of India and the AMA urged the Prime Minister to join with them in providing vital supplies.

The Government subsequently announced an initial aid package, details of which can be found here
