AMA Trainee Forum

The AMACDT hosted its first Trainee Forum on 2 February 2022. This is a Forum composed of all your 16 College Trainee Committee Chairs and we discuss high level issues affecting vocational training.

At the Forum we discussed the current state of play regarding the pandemic’s ongoing effect on education, training and assessment and particularly the impact on exam candidates. We reaffirmed the need for robust, clear and transparent contingency plans for examinations that are communicated early enough to trainees to ensure they have adequate time to prepare.

We know that DiTs across the country continue to face the brunt of COVID, working extended hours fatigued; having leave cancelled or postponed and rosters changed with minimal notice; being redeployed into areas of need; and missing large components of clinical exposure and important education and training sessions. We greatly appreciate this is a difficult time for all and we will continue to advocate for fairness when it comes to the ongoing impacts COVID has had on our training.

As always – your feedback is welcomed – cdt.chair@ama.com.au
