Webinar continues AMA(SA) payroll tax advocacy

The AMA(SA) efforts to convince the South Australian Government not to impose a new interpretation of payroll tax on GPs continued with a webinar attended by more than 75 doctors on 22 April.

Tax and contract experts from AMA(SA)'s legal partner, Norman Waterhouse, and financial advice partner, Hood Sweeney, answered many of the questions directed at the panel, led by President Dr John Williams, CEO Nicole Sykes and AMA(SA) Councillor Dr Emily Kirkpatrick.

Attendees heard that the ongoing campaign included a letter (below) to Treasurer Stephen Mullighan in which President Dr John Williams summarises the many impacts the tax on GPs and general practice will have on doctors, patients, emergency department capacity and the health system.
