AMA Submission to ACMA Review of alcohol advertising rules in the Free TV Code
The AMA’s submission to ACMA argues that the current Free TV Code is failing to protect the community from alcohol‑related harm, with weak time restrictions, broad sports exemptions and major loopholes exposing children and families to alcohol advertising. The AMA is calling on ACMA to replace industry self‑regulation with a strong, enforceable program standard that restricts alcohol advertising across free‑to‑air television and broadcaster‑owned streaming services to reduce preventable harm.
