Public consultation on fee transparency in health care: examining informed financial consent and split billing practices

The AMA has long been proactive in stressing the importance of ethical and professional informed financial consent (IFC) practice to members, and in providing both members and patients with educational materials to support such practice. IFC is a sound ethical, professional and business practice that should apply to all registered health practitioners, and efforts to improve IFC should continue to focus on education and professional guidelines.
