AMA SA welcomes new Board members
AMA SA is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Board members: Dr Emily Kirkpatrick and Ms Linda Abrams-South. With their extensive experience and fresh perspectives, they will play a pivotal role in guiding the organisation’s strategic direction and strengthening its governance.

Dr Emily Kirkpatrick – Ordinary Member
Dr Emily Kirkpatrick is a highly regarded general practitioner, medical administrator and leader across the public, private and academic health systems.
Dr Kirkpatrick is a Non-executive Director of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, Healthdirect Australia and UNE Life, the Managing Director of the EKology Group and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Australian Institute for Machine Learning, where she applies her clinical governance expertise to advancing health technologies.
Dr Kirkpatrick’s past roles include Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Chief Public Health Officer and Executive Director of Community and Primary Care Partnerships within SA Health. Emily played a critical role in leading South Australia’s COVID-19 response as the COVID Community Commander and in establishing virtual hospital care.

As an experienced board director, GP, public health advocate, and medical administrator, I am passionate about supporting doctors and amplifying the voice of our profession. I look forward to working with my fellow Board members to advocate for connected, clinician-led healthcare within a sustainable and forward-thinking AMA SA.’
Ms Linda Abrams-South – Independent Member

Linda Abrams-South is a senior executive and experienced board director with extensive experience across Australia in strategic and operational leadership.
Ms Abrams-South has held a number of non-executive director and senior executive roles including acting/interim Chief Executive, General Manager, Executive Director, and Chief Financial Officer in health, infrastructure, economic and justice sectors. She holds degree qualifications in four disciplines: finance and accounting, commercial law, business management, and computer and information science.
