AMA calls for 2025 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Participants

Expressions of interest are sought for the 2025 event!

The AMA is pleased to announce we have been accepted to participate at Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) 2025.

This is an opportunity for the organisation to strongly advocate on the principles of health equity and access. We are excited to engage the AMA membership and show public support for bettering the health and wellbeing of LGBTQIASB+ doctors and patients.

SGLMG began in 1978 as a political protest. In 2025, it is expected to host more than 200 floats, with more than 11,000 participants marching on behalf of community groups and organisations from across the country. This year's theme is ‘FREE TO BE’, with the AMA’s float title ‘Free to be... HEALTHY!’

We are now calling on AMA members who identify as part of the LGBTQIASB+ community, and are interested in participating in the parade on 1 March 2025, to submit expressions of interest.

To ensure the diverse experiences of LGBTQIASB+ AMA members in Australia are represented, appointments will reflect the diversity of the AMA membership, including genders, geography (including rurality), and practice group, as well as identifying as a member of the LGBTQIASB+ community.

Expressions of interest are welcome before COB Friday, 13 December 2024.
