2025 AGM: Strengthening the AMA’s governance

The federal AMA will hold its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 29 May at 7.30pm.

Members will vote on proposed changes to our Constitution, which are designed to enhance the governance of our organisation.

The key proposal is the appointment of two independent directors to the AMA Board. This is to ensure we gain vital new skills and perspectives necessary for a modern membership organisation.

We know from other examples across the industry that independent directors are crucial in unearthing new strategies to drive organisations forward, and in identifying and managing potential risks that could be missed without their unique expertise.

For example, to meet our strategic objectives, we require directors with a range of skills in finance, investment, communications, member engagement, digital transformation and more.

This change will bring the federal AMA in line with the rest of the industry and ensure we have best-practice governance.

We are also proposing other Constitutional changes, including an official handover period between AMA presidents.

You can read all the details about our proposed Constitutional changes, including frequently asked questions, on our AGM 2025 webpage.

This page also includes instructions on how to register your attendance and appoint a proxy.

We have also published our 2024 Annual Report, which you can read here.
