The Department of Health and Aged Care has launched a national campaign to encourage Australians to use the Medical Costs Finder when seeking private specialist care.

The Medical Costs Finder website is an initiative of the federal government and helps patients find and understand the typical costs for common private health procedures.

The Department of Health and Aged Care says more than 531,000 users have visited the website since it launched in December 2019 and numbers continue to grow each month, with more than 76,000 users in February alone.

A 30-second video has been uploaded to explain how the website helps patients.

A range of resources for health professionals and patients are available about the Medical Cost Finder.
