Launch of national approach to Doctor health and wellbeing

For the first time leaders across national healthcare bodies and the medical sector meet to tackle doctor suicide, health and wellbeing in a co-ordinated approach.

Drs4Drs is convening the inaugural meeting of a national leadership team committed to driving action on the mental health and wellbeing of doctors and medical students across Australia in all settings and at every stage of their career. This is known as the Every Doctor, Every Setting Framework.

AMA President, Professor Stephen Robson will chair the first meeting of the National Doctors Health & Wellbeing Leadership Alliance (NLA) in Canberra today, which will start the work of implementing the framework and devise a National Doctors Health and Wellbeing Action Plan.

Membership of the NLA consists of medical professionals with lived experience, peak body and government representatives from across the medical sector, including the Medical Board of Australia, Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association, Australian Medical Council of Doctors in Training, Australian Medical Students Association and the Rural Doctors Association of Australia.

Drs4Drs received grant funding from the Australian Government for the Every Doctor, Every Setting: Implementation of a National Framework.
