Government child vaccine campaign

An Australian Government public awareness campaign about the importance of childhood vaccines places doctors as trusted sources from whom parents and carers should seek advice and information about childhood immunisation.

Australia has a strong National Immunisation Program (NIP) with high rates of childhood vaccination, but recent data shows routine childhood immunisation coverage rates have declined over the past two years.

The campaign highlights the importance of vaccinating children to protect them from serious diseases and warns skipping or delaying vaccinations puts children and those around them at risk of catching serious diseases.

It encourages parents and carers to seek reliable information about vaccination and speak to trusted health professionals, like the family GP, about their child’s immunisations.

One of the main messages of the campaign is for the best protection, it’s important children receive their free routine vaccines in line with the NIP schedule on time, every time.
