AMA members: Share your experience on returning to work
Have you returned to medical practice after more than 12 months away? Take our survey now.

Doctors step away from practice for a range of reasons — parental leave, illness, travel, or other personal circumstances. But returning to work can be complex, with regulatory requirements, workplace barriers, and a lack of tailored support often standing in the way.
That’s why we’ve launched our return to work survey, which explores the experiences, challenges, and support systems encountered by AMA members re-entering the medical workforce.
The survey was developed in consultation with the AMA Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Committee (EIDC) and occupational and rehabilitation physician members.
The findings will inform our advocacy on national guiding principles for return-to-work programs, flexible work options, and wellbeing support. This initiative is led by the EIDC as part of our broader effort to support workforce retention and sustainability.
Please note: As the survey is for members only, you will be required to log-in using your email and password. If you need help accessing your account, please contact AMA Member Services or call 1300 133 655.
