AMA neXt

National Employment Conditions Comparison Tool

Are you a doctor-in-training looking to better understand your employment conditions?

Maybe you’re wondering how to take your career to the neXt level?

AMA neXt is the platform for you.

We know that Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs) are complex, hard to find and hard to read. It can be daunting navigating these EBAs and deciding where you want to take your career next.

The AMA has listened to your concerns and has developed the National Employment Conditions Comparison Tool — AMA neXt.

AMA neXt helps you cut through the weeds of EBAs, giving you an easy-to-understand snapshot of important rights and conditions such as salary, base hours, penalty rates, and leave entitlements in each state and territory.

AMA neXt UI

It allows you to print a summary of your chosen state or territory, and make a side-by-side comparison of two jurisdictions.

AMA neXt Report

You can use AMA neXt to better understand your collective rights, to compare your options, and even use it as an advocacy tool to improve the working rights of doctors.

How to use the tool
Expand for more information

This tool simplifies each state and territory’s current EBA into four sections:

  • Work time payments,
  • Education
  • Allowances, Leave, Roster
  • Agreement.

Simply click on your state or territory, then choose the relevant section to explore your EBA. Above the tool, use the “print” function to save all the information in a PDF or printed form.

To compare against another jurisdiction, use the “select state to compare” toggle in the top right. The right column then shows the compared state or territory, allowing an easy side-by-side evaluation of employment conditions. Then, simply use the same “print” function to save or print all the information.
