Last chance to register for Medical Careers Expo

The biggest Medical Careers Expo in Queensland is coming soon. Whether you're interested in obstetrics or aeromedicine, surgery or psychiatry, this is the event for you.

Medical students and doctors at all stages of their careers have until next week to register for the AMA Queensland Medical Careers Expo 2024.

The Expo is a one-stop shop for career opportunities and advice, with speakers and exhibitors from a selection of medical colleges, hospitals and private operators delivering information about career pathways, and live Q&A sessions with panels of experts.

Last year more than 400 people attended.

“This Expo is for all doctors and medical students, whether they have decided on a specialty or where they want to work,” AMA Queensland Vice President Dr Nick Yim, a GP in Hervey Bay, said.

“There will be speakers from the aviation industry and aeromedicine, forensic pathology, emergency medicine and psychiatry, to name a few.

“I of course will be encouraging people to pursue a career in general practice and will be happy to tell anyone and everyone about the joys of living and working in regional Queensland.

“There will be representatives from Hospital and Health Services around the state, including Metro South, Wide Bay, Townsville, Cairns Hinterland, Darling Downs, Gold Coast, Central Queensland and Mater.

“I’m told the Townsville doctors are willing to talk up the advantages of their 300+ days of sunshine every year.”

There will also be legal and financial advice from AMA Queensland’s corporate partners and a Wellness Panel hosted by Doctors’ Health in Queensland.

Entry is free to AMA Queensland members and $99 for non-members. The Expo will be held in two sessions, from 10am-2pm, and 1.30-5.30pm, with a free coffee cart, morning tea and lunch for morning participants, and afternoon tea and networking drinks and canapes for the afternoon session.

The AMA Queensland Medical Careers Expo will be held on Saturday 9 March 2024 at Voco Brisbane City Centre, North Quay.

Registrations close on Wednesday 6 March.
