Access to high quality, timely and affordable health care no matter where you live is a basic human right. Queensland’s world-class health system is under increasing pressure from various factors and this is preventing many patients from receiving the care they need, when and where they need it.
AMA Queensland has been championing certain priority areas for reform and investment to improve health access and equity for all Queenslanders for some time.
We have released our Budget Submission 2025-26 detailing these priorities and urge the newly elected LNP Government to invest in them. The returns to our health system and the wellbeing of every Queenslander will be reaped both now and in the years to come.
The priority areas are:
Priority 2 | Training pathways |
Priority 5 | Surgical Wait List Roundtable Action Plan |
Priority 6 | Primary-tertiary integration |
Priority 9 | Collaborative, evidence-based practice |
Priority 10 | Digital integration |
Priority 12 | Substance related harm |
Priority 13 | First Nations health |
Priority 14 | Women's health |
AMA Queensland urges Treasury to consider funding all 14 priority areas in the pending Queensland Budget 2025-26. Details concerning each priority and their importance to the health of every Queenslander are set out further in our Budget Submission 2025-26 document.
