New Secretary General for Federal AMA

AMA President, Dr Bill Glasson, is pleased to announce the appointment Dr Robyn Mason to the position of Secretary General.

Dr Mason has headed up AMA Victoria for the past ten years, during which time she has been a powerful advocate on health care issues in Victoria.

As a qualified medical practitioner with postgraduate qualifications in business administration and corporate governance Dr Mason's career has focussed on senior management roles within the medico-political and health system environments.

Dr Mason has filled leadership positions in the Victorian Health Department and two major public hospitals in Victoria.

Dr Mason will take up her new position on 5 April following the retirement of Dr Robert Bain who has served the AMA as Secretary General for five years.

Dr Glasson expressed his gratitude for Dr Bain's contribution during that time.

"Dr Bain has been a great source of insight and political strategy, playing a central role in the AMA's negotiations with government and non government organisations.

"On behalf of the AMA's Federal Council, I welcome Dr Mason and look forward to working with her in months ahead," Dr Glasson said.
