AMA Float at Mardi Gras 2026- ECSTATICA!
The AMA is excited to again be accepted to participate in the Sydney Mardi Gras parade.
On Saturday 1st March 2025, the Australian Medical Association took part in our first Mardi Gras, in an opportunity to further our advocacy work, and publicly support the LGBTQIASB+ community, who are our members and their patients.

Our float theme is ECSTATICA PRACTITIONA- proud to care!:
The AMA advocates that public acceptance of, support for, and celebration of, people who are LGBTQIASB+, is a vital part of reducing discrimination against these communities and boosting their health and wellbeing. ECSTATICA is the perfect theme for this, and our float ECSTATICA PRACTITIONA is a creative concept all about celebrating our LGBTQIABS+ doctors and patients, whilst promoting the importance of holistic health and wellbeing.
The AMA will be lit by a giant neon sign, the design a rainbow glowing heart with a pulsing ECG line through it, mounted on a pushable trolley. Participants will dance behind a larger banner which says: ECSTATICA PRACTITIONA- proud to care!
AMA participants will wear rainbow colourful scrubs and neon props such as glasses, bracelets and heart shaped wands.

The parade theme is ECSTATICA.
ECSTATICA is what happens when you find your people.
ECSTATICA can be seen. And heard. And touched. And tasted.
ECSTATICA is a movement.
It’s all of us, together.
Feeling joy in all its power.
So come join us. And come feel it.
We’ll see you at the 2026 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.
