Aims of the development

About the CPC CAG

The primary aim of the CAG is to review and advise on the development of CPCs, specifically in the context of:

  • establishing minimum criteria for referring practitioners to follow when referring patients to their first specialist outpatient appointment
  • defining minimum criteria for specialist outpatient services to determine the urgency category for patient appointments
  • identifying essential referral information required to support the referral process
  • informing updates that are subsequently integrated into HealthPathways

The CPC is embedded within both the HealthPathways and the GP Smart Referral platform, which have been implemented across Queensland. These systems support consistency in referral processes statewide. More information about CPCs is available on the CPC website.

Scope and Involvement of the CAG

Currently, CPCs cover 417 conditions across 27 specialty areas, including both adult and paediatric conditions. Over 900 clinicians across medical, nursing, allied health, and general practice have contributed to CAGs, guiding the development of these criteria to ensure they reflect clinical realities and support patient needs effectively.

How to Submit an EOI

To express interest, please send a brief email to Liz Travers at cpc@health.qld.gov.au by COB Friday, 22 November 2024, indicating your interest.

If you have questions about the CPC programme or would like further information, you can contact the CPC team at clinicalprioritisationcriteria@health.qld.gov.au.
