The AMA submission to the MRAC Electrocardiogram (ECG) Working Group post-implementation review of changes to ECG MBS items supports the restoration of MBS items for GPs to interpret ECGs while noting some improvements to the proposed items.
The submission highlights the AMA's calls on the government to:
- Restore GP access to MBS benefits for interpreting ECGs
- Implement the rebate structure for ECG items that was recommended by ECG Review Committee in January 2022, with appropriate adjustment for inflation.
