2022-23 Public Hospital Pricing Framework

The AMA provided a submission on the 2022-23 Public Hospital Pricing Framework on 9 July 2021 .

In the Submission the AMA called for improved accounting of impact of COVID-19 on the public hospital system, including the use of PPE and the cost of delayed elective surgery.

The AMA also supported price harmonisation, provided that it didn’t perversely incentivise hospitals to deter patients from acute care settings when acute care is required, and called for the non-admitted care classification to measure patient complexity and cost of care.
