AMA members celebrated at Stronger Medicare Awards
The Department of Health honoured doctors this week at Parliament House with a number of AMA members among the finalists and ‘Champions’.

The Department of Health and Aged Care this week held an event for its Stronger Medicare Awards in Parliament House with the Health Minister and Prime Minister on hand to celebrate doctors and practices that have made a significant contribution to Australia’s primary care sector.
Several AMA members were finalists in the Stronger Medicare Awards. Our congratulations go to Dr John Buckley, Dr Chris Boyle, Dr Belinda McDonald, Dr Siow Liew, and to Champions Dr Andrew Palfreman and Dr Suzanne Williams.
AMA President Dr Danielle McMullen wrote to the AMA member finalists ahead of the event to congratulate them on their exceptional contributions to primary care.
“Medicare’s success is because of doctors like yourself who have gone above and beyond for your patients. As a GP myself, I find this incredibly inspiring and feel very grateful for your work,” Dr McMullen said.
