Health Insurance Regulations – Professional Services Review Scheme Amendments

Amendments have been made to the Health Insurance (Professional Services Review Scheme) Regulations regarding GPs prescribed pattern of services.

The Regulations reintroduce the 30/20 rule for phone services performed by a GP. Beginning on July 1, a medical practitioner must not render or initiate more than 80 or more relevant services on each of 20 or more days in a 12-month period. Similarly, a medical practitioner must not render or initiate 30 or more relevant phone services on each of 20 or more days in a 12-month period.
