Practice Incentive Program Advisory Group Meeting Outcomes

The Practice Incentive Program Advisory Group (PIPAG) met on Thursday, 14 October 2021, PIPAG to discuss further development and implementation of the PIP, including on existing incentives or changes to existing incentives available through the Program. 

The meeting discussed a number of issues including PIP Quality Improvement reporting, data governance and the ongoing reviews of the eHealth Incentive and the Rural Procedural Grants Program and Practice Incentive Program Procedural GP Payment incentive.

The Department provided Members with an update on consideration of the inclusion of telehealth MBS items in the Standard Whole Patient Equivalent (SWPE) calculation for PIP and the Workforce Incentive Program (WIP). The AMA will continue to work with the Department over the coming months as we move to a permanent telehealth model. 

The AMA is represented on PIPAG by Chair of the AMA Council of General Practice, Dr Richard Kidd and a Federal AMA Senior Policy Adviser.
