Survey: have your say on the location of new aged care places

The Department of Health is seeking your views on the distribution of residential aged care places across Australia. The 2018-19 budget contains funding for 13,500 additional residential aged care places and 775 Short Term Restorative Care places, whose distribution will be determined by the Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR).

The ACAR determines funding for the allocation of residential aged care places through criteria such as population projections, current levels of service provision, and the special needs of particular areas.

AMA members have reported that the distribution and number of residential aged care places is not currently meeting demand, especially in rural and remote areas.
