Supporting leave for living Organ Donor Programme from 1 July 2015

On 12 May 2015, the Government announced the continuation for another two years of the Supporting Leave for Living Organ Donors Programme, which will build on the success of the two-year pilot that started on 1 July 2013 and was administered by the Department of Human Services.

Like the pilot, the new programme will provide financial contribution to employers for full time, part time, casual or self-employed persons requiring sick leave to donate an organ. The new programme will be administered by the Department of Health and will extend the six weeks of payments at the National Minimum Wage which was available under the pilot programme, to nine weeks leave at the National Minimum Wage.

Further information can be found on the Department of Health website.
