Shared Debt Recovery Scheme begins

4 Jul 2019

AMA members should be aware that the Shared Debt Recovery Scheme came into effect on 1 July. The Scheme is a fairer approach to the recovery of Medicare debts incurred as result of incorrect billing. It addresses organisational billing of Medicare services and is part of legislation introduced in the 2017-18 Federal Budget intended to improve Medicare compliance. You can read more about it here.

Available through the doctorportal learning is a suite of learning modules to support practitioners to better understand their obligations under Medicare, the role of compliance and the processes and procedures should a claiming error be identified. CPD points for this are available.
