Process for Rural Generalist recognition begins

The process of having rural generalist medicine formally recognised as a sub-specialty within general practice has commenced. The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACCRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) met with the National Rural Health Commissioner Professor, Professor Paul Worley, to begin the process.

The AMA supported the call to recognise rural generalism as a sub-specialty of general practice the submission to the National Rural Generalist Taskforce. The AMA supports the National Rural Generalist Pathway and is dedicated to improving rural health outcomes and addressing the issue of health workforce maldistribution.
