Opt-out period extended following pressure from AMA

Health Minister Greg Hunt announced last week that the My Health Record opt-out period has been extended for a month, following his private meeting with AMA President, Dr Tony Bartone, last month.

“The Turnbull Government has today extended the opt-out period for My Health Record by an extra month to 15 November 2018,” Mr Hunt said.

“This was a key request from the Australian Medical Association and ... gives Australians more time to consider their options as we strengthen the 2012 My Health Record legislation.”

The 20 August edition of Australian Medicine will report on the meeting in full. You can read the story here.
