New resources on inhaler and device technique

The National Asthma Council Australia has provided resources to assist GPs with patients who suffer from asthma. The resources detail best practice techniques for inhalers, as research shows that up to 90% of patients incorrectly use their inhalers for asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

The updated resources include a new version of the Council's ‘Inhaler technique for people with asthma or COPD’ to provide clearer recommendations and the incorporation of new medicines and devices that have entered the market in the last two years. There are also videos detailing how to use devices, accompanied by simple captions of the key steps.

AMA members can access these new resources from the GP Desktop Support Toolkit under Guidelines.
