New free-call options for DVA’s counselling service – and other DVA numbers
GPs might wish to advise their DVA patients that calls to the Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service (VVCS), available on 1800 011 046 for 24 hour crisis support and counselling, are now free of charge from two of Australia’s largest mobile providers Telstra and Vodafone. Calls from landlines remain free. Calls from other mobiles and from pay phones may incur charges.
GPs are also advised that if they need to contact a Primary Health Medical Adviser about one of their DVA patients, they can call the Provider Enquiry Numbers 1300 550 457 (metropolitan areas) or 1800 550 457 (non-metropolitan areas).
