New COVID-19 resources for GPs from Veterans’ MATES

New resources from the Veterans’ Medicines Advice & Therapeutic Education Services (Veterans’ MATES) are available for GPs and their patients to provide information about managing mental health and well-being during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fact sheet for DVA clients, Three actions to enhance and protect your mental well-being during and after COVID-19, describes the stress response and outlines techniques that can be learned and practiced when experiencing distress to stay well during COVID-19.

The fact sheet for health professionals, Practical ways to help your patients manage distress during and after COVID-19, outlines steps GPs can take to help their patients recognise and manage distress experienced during COVID-19, and describes how the pandemic can re-initiate a patients’ previous trauma.
