MJA: Deaths from childhood asthma, 2004-2013 what lessons can we learn?

This week’s edition of the Medical Journal of Australia contains a Perspectives article discussing how asthma management in children could be improved. Author Peter van Asperen draws on data from the New South Wales Child Death Review Team annual report 2013, which points to a recent increase in death rate and highlights areas for improvement.

Other topics of interest in MJA this week include: how melanoma is leading the way with new generation cancer therapies; knowing when to stop antibiotic therapy; improving access and equity in reducing cardiovascular risk: the Queensland health model; and the need for health authorities to review recommendations on how to choose and use mosquito repellents.
