Medicare has ceased providing bulk bill cheques

GPs are reminded that Medicare stopped issuing bulk bill cheques 12 months ago. While 99 per cent of all healthcare providers have given Medicare their bank details for electronic funds transfers (EFT), those that haven’t have had their bulk bill payments withheld.
If you haven’t yet provided Medicare with your EFT details, you will need to complete and submit the bank account details collection for healthcare providers form as soon as possible, as Medicare can only release your payments once this is done.
If you practice out of more than one location you will need to fill in a form for each provider number and location. Medicare have advised that for security and privacy reasons bank account details cannot be accepted over the phone and the form cannot be emailed.
The completed form can be posted or faxed to the DHS in your State. More information.
