Help patients control their asthma

AMA members may have noticed that Tuesday was World Asthma Day. This year, the National Asthma Council focused on providing information and resources for individuals with asthma to help them manage the condition.

The website includes fact sheets on a range on regular patient queries, including the use of spacers, using medication during pregnancy, when to consider complimentary therapies, links between asthma and reflux, and how to identify whether it is asthma or emphysema.

The Council is also advising patients to see their GPs to discuss their asthma, review their plan and update their My Health Record if they have not opted out. The Australia Asthma Handbook is available to assist GPs to support their patients.

More information is available at the National Asthma Council website.
