Expansion of QLD Pharmacy Vaccinations Trial
From September, Pharmacists participating in Queensland’s Pharmacists Immunisation Pilot will, in addition to influenza vaccinations, also offer measles and pertussis vaccinations.
The AMA does not support vaccinations being prescribed or administered by pharmacists without pharmacists having undertaken the same level of accredited training as medical practitioners. Pharmacists participating in the Queensland trial have not undertaken this type of training.
The AMA can find no published evaluation of the influenza trial to support Queensland’s expansion of the scope of the pilot.
