Dying well

This week’s edition of the Medical Journal of Australia looks at what can be done to help Australian’s die the way they want to and outlines four reforms that would help facilitate a good death. In brief they include more discussion, more planning, greater adherence to patient wishes, and re-orientating services to support non-institutional deaths.

The issue also covers a range of other issues including the need for inappropriate pathology ordering and pathology stewardship, ethical issues of immigration detention, preventing type 2 diabetes and antenatal care for asylum seekers.
